Thanksgiving update...

So I got my Turkey Day pics back and wanted to share. I gotta say, I didn't get any pics of the good stuff--the race in the morning, how gorgeous the day was, us loading bricks into the truck, etc...and the ones I did get aren't my fave of me. However, we had great company and good food! Here's to Thanksgiving 2007!

Look at that beautiful table! Katie, Jim and Natalie...pre-stuffing!
Natalie and her "Aunt-chovie" love the Cowboys!!

J-Crew Morning

Yesterday Anne and I went out shopping a bit after church--first to Maza Gallerie (shwank mall in DC) and then out to Leesburg (outlets waaaay out in VA). In beween, we dropped off some wedding presents we bought together a long time ago that had been living in Anne's basement since late summer. It was a great day of shopping successes. Anne got her Christmas presents taken care of and I got a new sweater and a present for Landon! Anne has encouraged me to buy a wool sweater for awhile--and wool socks--cause I'm pretty much underdressed all the time and therefore freezing. So I was on a kick for a sweater. Found some on sale in JCrew in Mazza. Not the right fit for me (cut too close). Found one on sale in JCrew outlet in Leesburg--even better b/c it's grey heather and cableknit. LOVE it. Fits great. 100% Lambswool--all for under $30. Makes me happy. So I'm wearing it today. And BIG double bonus--I'm wearing it with my AWESOME orange JCrew pants from the Rehoboeth outlets 2 New Year's ago. Yes, orange. Yes, I LOVE them. And yes--I haven't worn them in over a year b/c they have been too small. I can admit it...they are so tight I can barely breathe....but they look so good w/ my new, grey sweater. Pay no attention to the muffin top or the fact that it's like 50 degrees today and I'm sweating a little thanks to my 100% wool sweater. I look good. And shiny. If only I were wearing new wool socks.....

Snow daze...

It snowed like 5 inches here yesterday. Wow. I left work at 3:45 to beat the rush and it still took me almost an hour. Took me 1.5 to get into work this morning! Not to mention how long it took me to clean off my car! One of my neighbors busted it in the parking lot this morning on the solid sheet of ice! Yikes! Gonna be a long, cold winter in metro DC!

Funny--I drove my office mates crazy yesterday w/ the weather updates (which included me looking out the window, reporting on the size of the flakes and the speeed at which they were falling--followed up w/ the latest stats from weather.com). Keep in mind, they could see out the window, too. Poor Danielle--I thought she was gonna kill me. She was pretty much BEGGING my boss to send me home at 3. :) What can I say? I'm from Arkansas...snow is UNNATURAL. Kind of like snakes--which are the devil. Check it out in Genesis if you don't believe me.

This is especially for Amy--I know how much you love updates on the cats. So Willa and Nixon are fine. Basically. Nixon has "lost" one of his front fangs. His bottom right fang (incisor?) tooth. Looks kind of funny. His lip kind of curves in there where the tooth should be--like a little old cat-man. Anyway, this may be old news-I may have already posted it. It definately deserves a second mention. Willa has all her teeth. But she is limping and snorting noticably. Snorting due to alergies. Also snoring. Like a crazy old man. Seriously. I need earplugs so if you are looking for something to get me for Christmas....geez. I can just see it now--"yes, doctor (vet) I need to have my cat put to sleep. Well, you see, she snores and I can't sleep." As for the limp--it's pitiful. I am a horrible mama. I just can't seem to get her to the vet. I know, I know--we are going. It's just SO EXPENSIVE. But apparently not going to go away w/out a veterinary intervention. All of this to say--lots of cat fights these days. Seems I'm always breaking up some random fight and vacuuming up the remnants. Apparently, being one tooth short of a full set and having a bum leg make kitties prone to want to kill each other.

I can't believe it has come to this....I'm going to have to get a hedgehog just to prove I'm no cat-lady.

Post-Turkey Daze...

It's snowing!!! Hard! I'm nervous...all I can think about is the commute tonite!! Freaking snow...

So, since Thanksgiving, not a ton has happened. Certainly no big news. Well, besides the Gov. (Huckabee) rallying the troops in Iowa. No big shocker there---never underestimate him.
Otherwise, had a fairly slow week last week-the big news of the week was Shauna's grandmother. She has had some decline in her health over the past few weeks, and the answer came to the surface after some tests. As it turns out, she has a tumor on her brain that is affecting her mobility. They have run lots more tests and thankfully it has not spread to other parts of her body. She is currently in rehab to help her get around better--and Lord willing--will continue to improve. Keep Shauna and your family in your prayers.

This past weekend was quiet but good. Friday nite I got to see my friend Jill-who I never see anymore! We got to have dinner and hang out for awhile (before I had to rush home at like 9:30 b/c I'm turning into an old lady!) Saturday was house day. I got new curtains, futon cover, rug, bed-skirt and pillows. The day was spent working in my place and getting all the new stuff together. Then I watched football w/ Scott and went to bed at like 9 pm. Sunday I headed to Potomac Falls to spend the day w/ my friend Megan and her family. I went to church w/ them, then lunch, to the mall and to the YMCA where I had a nice long swim (30 hard minutest) and a brick run (10 min). Not bad! As always, had so much fun w/ Megan and her boys. We ate dinner together and I headed back to Alex around 9. Good times.

Here's a funny joke for ya--how do you catch a polar bear? Cut a hole in the ice, line it w/ fish, and when he comes over and bends over to pick up a fish, you kick him in the ice-hole.

Classy. And classic.

Still Thankful...

I am way behind on posting. I don't have my Turkey Day pics on snapfish, yet...but when I upload them, I will add them here.

Had a great Thanksgiving here in the city. Got off a bit early on Wednesday, met Anne down in Bethesda and we went to see "Dan in Real Life." It was pretty good. Headed back to Dawson to meet Susan (Anne's cousin). Pretty much hung out in the kitchen all nite cooking cheesecake--well, watching Anne cook cheesecake.

We got up early Thursday morning for the Bethesda Turkey Chase 10K. Results here: http://www.runwashington.com/results/searchable.html We had a decent race--considering that it was crazy hilly and I had an arch cramp from mile 2-6 that made me want to chop off my own foot--or head. It was a gorgeous day for a run! And one to be thankful for! After the race, we changed in the car (a post in itself) and headed to church to meet Susan for the Thanksgiving service. We emerged starving and headed to LaMadeliene for some sustanance and lots of lunchtime laughs (mostly due to my high-larious jokes). We spent the afternoon preparing for dinner and then headed over to Jim and Katie's for a wonderful dinner! I provided mac-n-cheese and green bean casserole (not to be outdone by a strictly yankee dinner!). Katie set the most beautiful table and Natalie provided quite the entertainment, as usual. We watched the Cowboys win and headed back to Dawson around 8 for an early bedtime. Anne had to work on Friday and I got to sleep in.

Friday morning I headed back to VA. Spent a lot of the weekend w/ Scott. We went to see "The Mist" and had dinner together on Friday. Saturday was very low key, also. Got to see Sarah and we went to see "August Rush." Sunday, went to church, had lunch w/ the McMurry's and dinner w/ Nancy and her Francie (French boyfriend). Good times.

I have much to be thankful for. It was a great Thanksgiving and I am thankful for good health, good friends, family and the "good life."

Happy Birthday, Stacey!!!

Happy (late) Birthday to my girl "Texas Ranger!!!"

May God bless you mightily this year and many, many more!!!
