Random Happenings...

It's been a crazy couple of weeks with the new job. Last week was the "sales meeting" which meant going all day from about 7 am to 9 or 9:30 pm--breakfast thru dinner. But it was a good chance to meet everyone. Regardless, I've had little time or gumption to create a post, so I'll catch you up:

-Today begins week three at the new job. It's the first week that isn't something--so training should really begin today. So far, so good. I really like everyone--my boss included, and I can tell I won't be bored here! Yeah!!!

-Landon is crawling!!! I can't believe it! And he's getting baby fat! I cannot wait to see him in a couple of weeks!

-I've been dogsitting Rocky the cocker spaniel this weekend thru tomorrow--and then next weekend, too. He lives in Bethesda which means a really short commute for me. And I get to stay in this huge house in the gorgeous neighborhood and pretend to be grown up. Fun stuff.

-It's been raining all weekend--which just makes me sleepy.

-Dentist appointment in the morning (this is less for you, and more to serve as a reminder for myself!)

-Heading to Arkadelphia in less than 3 weeks!!! Me, Anne, Tango and Shauna will be participating in: http://www.dltmultisport.com/DeGray/index.htm --The Degray Lake Sprint Triathlon!!! I am so excited!!! Not so much about the race, cause it's gonna be super hilly--but sooo excited for Anne and Tango to come to Arkadoo and meet everyone and see everything--and Shauna to get to be there!!! Fun stuff!!!

-Love the new Harry Potter book. It's kind of dark, and I can tell that it's not going to end well (I don't do well with real endings)...but it's very enjoyable. Should be done in a day or two. I'll be sure to tell you if Harry dies.. (jk)

-I'm dying for a beach trip. Anyone wanna come up for a weekend at Rehoboth?? Bring it!

Ode to Shauna....

Shauna-

This is for our convo this morning. And for everyone who knows you who reads this blog.

I asked Shauna to be sure to leave me comments on occasion on my blog page. Shauna's response was, "I don't want to be a dork." Translation: I don't know how to leave comments.

And then she said--"I don't want any more pictures of me on there." Translation: I am vain and like to control the manner in which I am presented.

So in the spirit of retaliation...I'll be looking up some really fun pics of Shauna today...
Oh Shauna...now you're in trouble!!! ;) Sic' her ya'll!!!

First day at the office!

I started my new job at Blackboard today!!! It was a great day--tiring, but good. I didn't get a nap (which I've gotten used to!) so at 3:30ish I was struggling...but overall, it was a very good day. From 9-12:30 I had orientation w/ HR. Then I went to lunch with my boss and 2 other team members--one new one and a veteran. After lunch we got our computers, phones, set up email, etc...then met with my new boss Sara for a couple of hours. It was a good day. One funny story....

We all went to lunch together, right? Nice conversation, chit chatting, etc... One of my new co-workers was talking about having a baby with his girlfriend who is Jewish (which put us on the topic of religion). He mentions (emphatically) that he is Catholic but HATES the Catholic church b/c of the rapist priests (who doesn't hate a rapist priest). Keep in mind, this boy is CHATTY. Likes to talk and probably just talks to hear himself sometimes (don't even think about saying me too about me!)...ANYWAY...to make a long story short, he asks me what religion I am (keep in mind--first day of work at lunch with my boss and teammates) and I say that I'm an evangelical Christian, to which he says, "what??" I say, 'I am a born-again Christian." He says: "Oh. Those 'born agains' are bad news! I dated Billy Graham's granddaughter and she was BAD." Okay---he's just called me bad news and insulted my hero, Billy Graham. So I take a breath, look around and say: "Well, luckily, I believe as an 'evangelical, born-again, Christ-follower that I'll be forgiven for being bad news!" My boss is staring, my Jewish teammate is staring, and my new co-worker backs down, thankfully! Cause I might have had to take him out if he said anything else about Billy Graham. Talk about laying it all on the line right up front. Loverman says that I pulled the equivalent of putting the Christian fish on my car. Then she asked if I 'outed' her too. Lord, help me!!!

Here's what I wore on my first day....there was some debate about what I would wear. So I settled on my new skirt, suit jacket, and new cute shoes (which you can't see unfortunately). The controversy was because of the "business casual" office. Suit or not? So I compromised. For the record, I was the most dressed up by a long shot!

Shout out to my girl Loverman, who stayed over and went with me to work so I wouldn't have to go by myself!!! Thanks, Loverman!!!

Beach bunnies...

Shauna came in for the week last week--YEAH!!! We had such a fabulous time! We spent three days in Rehoboth at the beach and had gorgeous weather and a fabulous time shopping, eating and laying out.

At the beach watching the lifeguard competition.
On the boardwalk.
We spent Friday nite and Saturday with the Anne-chovie. Always good to see La Petite Poission!
Thanks Shauna-belle! I had a wonderful time while you were here, as always! So good to see you!

Crazy cats...

So most of you know my aversion to becoming a 'cat lady'....and I know actually putting them on my blog probably doesn't help alleviate this stigma (eye roll)...HOWEVER... this is too funny.

I came in one day and both cats had stray pieces of fur hanging out all over....Willa was limping and Nixon had a giant piece of fur in his mouth. There was a fight...I don't know who won, but this was what I came home to:

This is fur remnants. All over the floor. I had vacuumed the floor not even an hour before.
I'm glad I wasn't there to see the actual fight. But it had to be a bad one.
Crazy cats. Making me a crazy cat lady. Oiy.
