Good day...

Today is a GOOD DAY!!!!! I'm seeing the world in shades of rose! And no, it's not because of the goggles! I got some great news last nite and today I resigned my job and accepted a different one!
"What?!?!" You may ask! "But Christy! I JUST served as a reference for your background check!" Why, yes, that may be true! But nonetheless, I have been asked to travel during the interim period b/w having no clearance and background check and I just can't do it! In addition, the super exciting news is that I got the job that I originally wanted after I got laid off from Discovery! I'll be working in the same field/area (educational technology/acct. management) but for a company called Blackboard. My friend Lisa referred me (Thanks, Loverman!) and everything came together last week pretty quickly--and Just In Time!
YEAH!!!!! Very excited! And big praises!!! Thank you, Lord!

Bath Co. Triathlon...round III

Wahoooooo! We did our annual trip to Bath Co. for the triathlon this past weekend! As usual, it was a gorgeous drive, wonderful house and a great time with good friends! This year, Anne, Susan and I stayed in town in a PRECIOUS house called the McClintock Cottage. We made it in record time on Friday afternoon. Had plenty of time for packet pick up, dinner, local shopping at the Pit Stop, and hanging out. We arose early Saturday morning to chilly temps and a gorgeous, sunshine-filled morning! When we got to the race, we unloaded, got ready and hit the road! Anne did the entire race, Susan and I did a relay--with me on the swim/bike; her on the run. It was a fabulous race and everyone felt great after! There was even a bear sighting on the run course!!!

Welcome to the gun show!
Getting all body-glided up!

We look serious, yes?? Nothing like looking sexy in a swim cap....
Pre-swim; nerves were starting to kick in...Anne and I had a serious convo about why we even do triathlons b/c this part stinks so bad!!! The anticipation is killing me!!!
Anne and I are at the bottom of the pic....
Me and Tango when she crossed the finish line!
Anne just crossed the finish line!!! Yeah Anne!!! I don' t have a pic...but she did her usual, serious, crazy faced, mad-dash across the finish!!! Elbows flying!
Yeah!
Time to celebrate good times, come on!!! We spent Saturday afternoon at the Jefferson pools for a post-race soak in the thermal waters. Then we got a movie, some food, champagne, cigars and fireworks to celebrate the race (and possible other good news to be announced soon!)! So much fun!
Definately NOT Anne's first cigar!
We had a blast in the yard on Saturday...so fun! Fireworks, toasting, just a great time!!! And then Sunday morning....
I was so sick!!! It had nothing to do with any of the aforementioned vices! I had some sort of bug or food-poisioning and started throwing up Saturday nite at like 2:30.
Besides Sunday, we had such a fabulous time! So fun to share it with you, Anne-chovie and Tango!!!

Picture catch-up....Part II--Diabetes Bike Ride

Anne and I rode 32-35 miles (there's some debate there on how far it actually was)--to raise money for the American Diabetes Association! We actually exceeded our goal!!! It's too bad it was after the race tho...and we had to pay alot to ride. Oh well--it was for a good cause! And, it was mostly fun! Except for the last hour or so! ;) So sorry, Anne!!

Pre-ride; in the garage....
Post-ride...watching the HIGH-LARIOUS band! I almost became a groupie just like Maradee!!!!
In Megan's yard....looking good in bike shorts, baby!!!

Picture catch-up time...Part I--Arizona

Okay, I'm overdue on pics here...so I finally uploaded everything..and here it is!!!

My hotel in Arizona...
The Customs and Border Patrol location where I worked...
The sign that tells you either where to go to work....or where to go pick up your illegal cousin Juan.
Typical front yard in Tucson....rocks EVERYWHERE....
The airplane graveyard in Tucson...you can't really tell much from this...but there are ACRES AND ACRES of planes...all kinds of planes...as far as you can see! Thousands of them that are no longer being used. Makes me feel great about my tax dollars!

Bath County, part III....

So this weekend was the annual Bath County Triathlon.

Differences b/w 2006 and 2007:
-Shauna didn't come. :(
-I didn't do the run...Tango and I did a relay---I did the swim/bike, she did the run. Our team name is "Duck, Duck, Goose!"
-I didn't wear a wetsuit. I had a new one and it was so tight I couldn't feel my legs--just couldn't do it.
-We had a REALLY nice house...very cute and as Anne put it, "very high end."
-We celebrated Saturday nite w/ fireworks, steak dinners, champagne and a movie.
-I spent all nite/early morning Sat. throwing up from some sort of bug or food poisioning--and all day Sunday on the couch. Ick. So sick. But my precious friends took great care of me...so sweet.
-I didn't want to die after doing the bike portion of the race (Of course I went REALLY slow--but I do love Eduardo-my new bike).
-This year we stopped along this beautiful spot on the river where we always say we want to wade--turns out it is private property, but we got permission to go down to the river but "to watch out for snakes-they are really bad here." That was enough for me...ready to go--don't care how pretty it is!
Things that were the same b/w 2006 and 2007:
-Me, Anne and Tango. Triple threat, Baby!!!
-Anne is still a monster. I tell you...that girl is a BEAST.
-Still had a great time.
-Still in the beautiful mountains of western Virginia.
-Still loving feeling of finishing a tri...but hating the 10 min. before it begins!
-Good times.

Glory, Glory....

Billy Graham is one of my earthly heroes. My heart goes out to him and his family during this time of loss...but what glory Ruth is experiencing right this second even!!! And what a gift to see this family be such a wonderful influence and give hope even in times of loss. God bless...

Ahhh...the Diamondbacks...

Isn't that what the sportsteam in Arizona is called?? Who cares?! I'm so freaking over Arizona right this second. This place is HOT (like 109) and ugly. Nothing but rocks and sun and dirt everywhere you look. And cactus are WEIRD. Ugh. It probably doesn't help that I'm working 45 hours a day. Actually, My hours have been cut almost in half...only 10 hours yesterday and today and tomorrow (today is saturday). Wahoo!!! BUT---as much as I'm ready to head East (yes I said east, and not south--DC must FINALLY be growing on me!)...I know that I am blessed to be here. After all, I am being paid OT!!! Pics to come soon---well, who knows when soon will be....

Showering babies???

As I was typing the caption, I thought "how weird to shower a baby!?!" Or in the famous words of Shauna, "what kind of babies take a shower???" I attended Uzma's baby shower a couple of weeks ago...a couple of fun disco pics from the event...

Lindsey, Alex, Sarah and myself--the old team...and still good friends.
Me and my "mama!"
It's always good to see your peeps. Speaking of peeps--BIG SHOUT OUT TO MY GIRL AMY JAMES-----congrats on the baby boy!!!!! WHOOOOHOOOOO!!!!
Back in AZ...more talk of cacti to come....

Surrounded by cacti...

I'm in Arizona. Tucson to be exact. I can't say that I'm impressed so far. It beats all I've ever seen.....no grass. HOT HOT HOT. It was 109 yesterday...and there are red lava rocks EVERYWHERE. In yards, people rake them. Cactus and random aloe looking plants. That's about it. It's not a pretty town, but I hear I haven't seen the good parts yet. No doubt I won't see them. If yesterday is any indicator...I worked 16 hours. Praise the Lord for overtime!! :) Wish me luck! Will be flying home on Friday--can't wait!
